Throughout 2026, the hospital will provide $99 self-pay lung cancer screenings during the months of February, May, August and November.
“Lung cancer is often diagnosed at advanced stages,” said Dr. Michael Jantz, interventional pulmonologist at HCA Florida North Florida Hospital. “Because of this, treatment options are more limited, and the chance of cure is significantly decreased. Low dose computed tomography (LDCT) is the only recommended screening test for lung cancer. During an LDCT scan, patients lie on a table while a CT scanner uses a minimal amount of radiation to create detailed images of the lungs. The screening takes only a few minutes and is completely painless.
