OCALA, FL. (352today) – On March 16, 2026, a particularly rainy day, a small bundle of hope was dropped off at the Humane Society of Marion County. His name is Blueberry, and although he has not been alive for very long, his short life has been forever marked by the struggle to survive.

Blueberry was found under a shed covered in ticks and suffering from a severe skin infection. When he was taken to the HSMC, they found he had trash in his stomach since he was eating anything he could find to survive. After weeks of medicated baths and treatments, Blueberry is on the road to recovery with his tail happily wagging.

Blueberry has become a brand-new pup thanks to the Humane Society of Marion County. When he is compared now to how he was on that rainy day in March, it is a night-and-day difference. His story is a testament to the care and love that HSMC pours into all their pups, and to the community that supports them. Blueberry will become available for adoption in the next few weeks after he completes his treatments and sterilization surgery.
