SUMMERFIELD, FL (352today.com) – Ocala-based nonprofit The Dandelion Project is dedicated to supporting those dealing with and recovering from grief, bereavement, and trauma, and this Saturday they will be hosting a butterfly release in honor of those who’ve lost moms, as well as moms who’ve lost their kids and anyone else who wants to honor a passed loved one.

“This meaningful and reflective gathering is open to all in our community,” read an announcement for the event. “Together, we honor the love that never leaves and remember the children and loved ones who live in our hearts.”

The event takes place Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 174330 U.S. HWY 441 in Summerfield.

Activities will include:

  • Butterfly release
  • Opportunities for mothers and other family members to speak and share
  • A memorial display table for photos and tributes
  • Local vendors and community partners offering resources

Attendees are encouraged to bring a small picture or framed photo of their loved one for the memorial display, and perhaps a note or cards to read from if they wish to share.

All are welcome at this beautiful opportunity to honor the loved and lost.
