MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – A crash involving a school bus and a sedan was reported the morning of May 4 on U.S. 441 near SE 176th St., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers say the crash happened around 9:02 a.m. when a 21-year-old Ocala man driving a sedan was traveling south on U.S. 441 approaching the intersection. A school bus, driven by a 66-year-old Ocala woman, was stopped in the left turn lane for a red traffic signal.
According to investigators, the driver of the sedan experienced a medical episode and veered to the left, causing the vehicle to collide with the right side of the school bus. Both vehicles then traveled onto the grass shoulder.
The school bus had 27 students on board at the time of the crash. Two students and the driver of the sedan were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
The bus driver was not injured, according to the report.
The crash remains under investigation.
