BELLEVIEW, FL (352today.com) – The Marion County Sheriff’s Office announced on social media at approximately 8:30 p.m. on the evening of Friday, May 15, 2026, that a large hole had opened up on SE 110th St. in Belleview along the 7200 block, and that the road was closed in both directions.
“Both lanes of travel are closed at the 7200 block of SE 110th Street Road, in Belleview, due to a ground depression,” read the post, in part. “The Marion County Roads Department is on scene to address the situation.
“The road will likely be closed for an extended period of time. Please find an alternate route.”
The post also explained that, until officially ruled a sinkhole, such developments are referred to as “ground depressions.”
Local residents and commuters be advised.
