OCALA, FL (352today.com) – A fire that claimed an Ocala home in the early morning hours of Friday, July 3, 2026, is under investigation by the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office and Ocala Police Department.
Ocala Fire Rescue responded to a call about a residential fire on the 2000 block of SW 4th St. at approximately 6:30 a.m. Friday morning. Marion County Fire Rescue and Fire Prevention Division aided in the response. The information that the home was unoccupied allowed firefighters to employ an aggressive response to handling the blaze.
Firefighters had the fire under control by 6:49 a.m.
No one was injured in the incident. However, “due to preliminary reports from bystanders suggesting foul play, the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Florida State Fire Marshal and Ocala Police Department,” according to a release from Ocala Fire Rescue.
