OCALA, FL (352today.com) – A 59-year-old Ocala man was killed Friday morning when the pickup he was driving ran off CR 464 and then back on into oncoming traffic, causing a collision.
According to a report by the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was traveling west on CR 464 just west of SE 51st Avenue in southeastern Ocala when his vehicle ran off the roadway to the right.
The pickup truck collided with the embankments of two separate ditches off the road, then re-entered westbound CF 464 before crossing over into oncoming eastbound traffic, where the pickup’s right front side collided with the front left side of an SUV traveling in the opposite (correct) direction.
The man driving the pickup died of his injuries. His passenger, a 52-year-old Ocala woman, suffered serious injuries in the incident. The sole occupant of the SUV that was eventually struck, a 59-year-old male also from Ocala, suffered minor injuries as well.
