MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – A 42-year-old Micanopy man was struck and killed by a vehicle while cutting up a fallen tree in northwestern Marion County yesterday afternoon.
According to a report by the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was standing on the edge of CR 329, just north of its intersection with CR 320, using a chainsaw to cut a tree limb that had fallen into the roadway at approximately 4:20 p.m. on Monday, July 20, 2026.
A sedan driven by a 76-year-old Micanopy man was traveling southbound on CR 329 when it struck both the tree and the man.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the sedan sustained minor injuries in the collision.
Traffic homicide investigators continue look into the incident.
