MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Have you ever wondered how the county law enforcement sausage really gets made? If so, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office has a program for you.
The Citizens Academy and Partnership (CAP) program is a free seven-week educational course, held twice a week, that introduces participants to multiple departments and operations within the agency.
“During the program, MCSO staff will highlight all units within the Sheriff’s Office, giving citizens an in-depth understanding of what the agency is doing for the community,” read an announcement. “Each week will focus on a different aspect of the agency, personnel, equipment, policies, procedures, and overall function. Students will be able to view specialty unit equipment and hear from experts in law enforcement, investigations, detention, and administration.”
Applications for the CAP program, which will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-11:30 a.m., begins September 15, 2026, and applications are now being accepted.
The program is held at the Marion County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Operations Center, located at 692 NW 30th Ave., Ocala.
