OCALA, FL (352today.com) = Ocala Fire Rescue responded to a somewhat unique blaze yesterday morning, and found firefighters found themselves battling a blaze packed deep inside a semi trailer.
OFR responders arrived at a call at the Ocala FedEx ground facility located on the 3100 block of NW 35th Avenue Road at approximately 10:30 a.m. on the morning of Tuesday, August 11, 2026, after receiving the information while en route that the fire was inside a third party’s semi trailer.
After ascertaining that there were no hazardous materials within the trailer, responders on the scene discovered the source of the fire was deep inside the trailer, which was fully packed with contents. Their streams of water were unable to reach the fire’s seat.
Firefighters were forced to use ladders and special saws to open access in the sides of the trailer and douse the fire’s source, while heavy machinery was used to continue removing the cargo through the rear of the trailer.
The combined effort allowed responders to completely extinguish the fire. A subsequent investigation revealed no suspicious activity related to the blaze, and no injuries were reported.
The agency’s Prevention Division, the Ocala Police Department and Marion County Fire Rescue also responded to the incident.
