Ocala pedestrian killed in hit-and-run on 200A Wednesday morning, driver arrested

The driver reportedly fled the scene but returned an hour later and confessed to authorities.

352todayIn a strange coincidence, both the suspect and the victim were reported to be 29-year-old male residents of Marion County.

OCALA, FL (352today.com) – A 29-year-old Marion County man was identified and charged after leaving the scene of an accident in which another 29-year-old male, a pedestrian, was killed on Wednesday morning.

According to an announcement from the Florida Highway Patrol, the pedestrian was walking along the east shoulder of CR 200A near the intersection at NE 110th St. at approximately 8:05 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, when he was struck and pronounced dead at the scene.

The vehicle that struck the pedestrian fled the scene.

According to the report, a vehicle returned to the scene about an hour later, showing visible damage consistent with the incident.

The driver, 29-year-old Matthew Boardman, reportedly admitting to both being the driver in the incident and leaving the scene.

Boardman was charged with Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving Death, and booked into the Marion County Jail.

The deceased pedestrian’s next of kin has been identified and notified.
