ALACHUA COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – A 33-year-old Middleburg man was killed in a collision on U.S. HWY 441 in Alachua County last night.
According to a report by the Florida Highway Patrol, an 18-year-old Lake City female was traveling southbound on 441 just south of County Road 237 at approximately 8:40 p.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2026, when for unknown reasons her sedan crossed the median into the northbound lane.
Her sedan collided with a pickup truck driven by a 33-year-old man from Middleburg that was headed north.
The sedan overturned, coming to rest in the northbound right lane; the pickup truck came to a stop facing north on the northbound shoulder. Two additional vehicles became involved when they were struck by debris from the collision.
The 18-year-old driver of the sedan that crossed into the northbound lanes was transported to UF Health Shands Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene.
