GILCHRIST COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – A driver and passenger are dead following a traffic collision in Gilchrist County on Thursday afternoon.
According to a report by the Florida Highway Patrol, the investigation indicates that two men from Cross City were in a sedan traveling east on CR 340 at around 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2026, when the driver failed to obey a stop sign at the intersection with U.S. HWY 129.
The sedan entered the path of a tractor trailer headed north on HWY 29 and driven by a 58-year-old Lake City man, and a collision ensued.
Both men in the sedan were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor trailer was unharmed.
