OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Kids Central Inc. is actively seeking compassionate adult volunteers to join its Mentoring Program, aiming to support local foster youth between the ages of 16-22 years old.
“As a volunteer with Kids Central’s Mentoring Program, you can make a positive difference in the life of a young person in the foster care system,” said Kimberly McGlothern, Director of Community Affairs at Kids Central Inc.

Mentors play a vital role, providing guidance and encouragement to foster youth navigating the critical transition into adulthood. Research shows that youth paired with dedicated mentors have significantly higher chances of enrolling in college or vocational schools and greatly reduced risks of substance abuse.
The program seeks a one-year commitment from mentors, with flexibility for partial-year residents. Volunteers undergo a required background check and participate in weekly calls or video chats and twice-monthly in-person meetings, involving enriching activities like dining out, visiting parks, or museums. Regular feedback ensures a supportive and effective mentoring relationship.
Kids Central supports mentors extensively, offering orientation, clear goal setting, continuous coaching, and accessible resources. Interested volunteers can learn more and apply at KidsCentralinc.org or reach out directly at (352) 873-6332 or mentoring@KidsCentralinc.org.
