LEVY COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Levy County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a 54-year-old Bronson woman Tuesday night on multiple charges related to the possession and trafficking of narcotics, as well as resisting arrest.
After witnessing a traffic infraction, a LCSO deputy initiated a traffic stop in Bronson on the evening of Tuesday, August 18, 2026. Noticing the driver, 54-year-old Shauna Briggs, was acting suspiciously—”including reaching around the interior of the vehicle and extreme nervousness,” according to an announcement—the deputy requested assistance from a LCSO K-9 unit.
The K-9, Bohden, alerted during a “free air sniff” around the Ford SUV, providing probable cause for a search. In the vehicle, deputies found 4.7 grams of fentanyl and 7.9 grams of liquid in a large plastic baggie, which tested positive for methamphetamine.
“When deputies attempted to place Briggs under arrest she resisted and actively attempted to fight with deputies,” the announcement read. “Briggs was charged Trafficking in Fentanyl, Possession of Controlled substance without Prescription, Resisting Officer W/O violence, Evidence Tampering, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.”
Briggs was transported to the Levy County Jail. While she was granted a bond of $122,000 for most of her alleged offenses, a charge related to possession of fentanyl of more than 4 grams with intent to distribute carries an automatic “no bail” mandate.
