OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Florida drivers are getting a break at the pump as the state’s average gas price fell to $2.97 per gallon on Sunday—marking the lowest daily average since December 2023 and 2 cents below the previous 2024 low.
Compared to a week ago, prices are down 13 cents, and 55 cents lower than this time last year. The average cost to fill a 15-gallon tank now stands at $44.55, saving drivers $8.25 compared to last year.
“Low oil prices and strong gasoline production numbers have helped push gas prices to lows not seen in more than a year,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “However, it’s not clear how much lower prices will go. Springtime factors like refinery maintenance, strong demand, and the switch to summer gasoline typically keep upward pressure on prices at the pump.”
Over 70% of Florida gas stations are selling fuel under $3 per gallon. The lowest 10% average $2.76, while the highest 10% average $3.35. In Ocala, the cheapest gas is $2.71 at Circle K locations on SW SR-200 and SW College Road, according to GasBuddy.com.
