LAKE COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Didja know October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month? Yep, it has been since 1981, and is officially supported by such familiar organizations as the ASPCA, Humane Society and American Humane.
In celebration of Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, the Lake County Animal Shelter is going all-in to empty their kennels with a half-off discount on all adoption fees through the month of October. That’s 50 percent off the shelter’s already very affordable prices, and while you can’t put a price on the unconditional love and improvement to quality of life that you get from a new shelter pet, it always helps to put that ability a little more within reach.
Every adoption includes:
- Spay or neuter surgery
- Initial vaccinations
- Microchip
- Personalized ID tag
“There’s something special about giving a shelter pet a second chance and welcoming them into your family,” said Whitney Boylston, Director of Lake County Animal Services, in a statement. “We’re proud to celebrate Adopt a Shelter Dog Month and help more deserving shelter dogs find the loving families they’ve been waiting for.”
