WILDWOOD, FL (352today.com) – Wildwood Police responding to a vandalism call on the night of Monday, June 8, 2026, ended up arresting a man for attempted felony murder.
According to a statement from the City of Wildwood, officers responded to a call about a woman’s ex-husband damaging a vehicle in the area of Spanish Harbor Drive at approximately 10 p.m. The officers found the ex-husband suffering from a gunshot wound. While being treated on the scene, the ex-husband identified his ex-wife’s boyfriend, Christopher Johnson, as his assailant.
The victim had sustained serious injuries, and was transported to a trauma alert center.
Investigators obtained video footage showing the ex-husband using a metal object to damage a vehicle and leaving the video’s area of coverage before Johnson is seen “jogging” in the other man’s direction. No verbal communication could be heard while the men are out of view, but a single gunshot is audible.
Johnson was charged with attempted felony murder and discharging a firearm in public.
