CITRA, FL (352today.com) – A residential fire in Citra last night claimed the life of an unnamed adult victim.

According to a report by Marion County Fire Rescue, MCFR responded to residential fire on the 1500 block of NE 162nd Street in Citra at approximately 11:24 p.m. on Monday, June 30, 2026. They found a single-story building engulfed in flames.

Firefighters entered the structure to search for occupants, and discovered a single adult male, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

“While search operations were underway, fire crews initiated an aggressive exterior fire attack to bring the fire under control,” a statement read, in part. “Additional personnel from Anthony Station 1, North Marion Station 11, Orange Lake Station 9, and Citra Station 2 responded to assist with fire suppression and scene operations.”

Authorities declared the fire under control at 11:43 p.m.

MCFR investigators, along with the Bureau of Fire, Arson and Explosives Investigations, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, and the district medical examiner’s office, are still investigating fire’s origins.
