OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Marion County Fire Rescue responded to a natural gas leak yesterday morning after a contractor accidently struck a gas line.
According to an announcement on social media, first responders from Anthony Station #1 arrived on scene along the 4200 block of NE 18th Terrace at approximately 9:31 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, after receiving a report that a contractor had ruptured a gas line.
They ascertained that a leak had in fact been created and established a safe perimeter. A nearby home was evacuated, and other residents were advised to shelter in place. A portion of the roadway was temporarily closed to traffic while additional crews from Shady Station #16 worked to secure the leak.
TECO gas arrived on the scene and isolated and repaired the leak without injury to responders or civilians.
