MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Marion County Public Schools has scheduled a pair of public meetings to “help gauge community sentiment” about the future of its former district office in Ocala.
The office building at 512 SE Third St.—also known as the site of the old Central Elementary School— as closed back in December 2022 due to “facility and environmental concerns identified at the site,” according to the announcement.
Now, the district is thinking about selling the property, and is seeking public input on its future.
There will be two meetings on the subject, both on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, in the Browne Greaton Cole Auditorium located at 1614 E. Fort King St. in Ocala. The first will be held starting at 9 a.m., with the second at 6 p.m.
“The public is welcome to attend and offer input on the future of the former district office,” the announcement reads.
