OCALA, FL (352today.com) – The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is using social media throughout May to help raise awareness for missing persons cases and encourage the community to help bring answers to families still searching for loved ones.
In recognition of Missing Persons Month, the sheriff’s office announced it will be sharing stories of individuals who remain missing on its Facebook page throughout the month.
Officials said the campaign is intended to keep attention on cases that may have gone quiet over time while also encouraging the public to come forward with any information that could help investigators.
“They are all someone’s child, parent, sibling or friend, and each case represents a family searching for answers,” the sheriff’s office said.
The agency said it hopes increased visibility and community engagement could help generate new tips or leads in the cases being highlighted.
“We believe someone out there may have the missing piece,” the sheriff’s office said in a social media post. “One detail or one memory could be the tip that helps bring them home.”
The sheriff’s office is encouraging residents to follow along, share the posts and contact investigators if they recognize any details connected to the cases. Anyone with information is asked to call the Marion County Sheriff’s Office at 352-732-9111.
