MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – A head-on collision on CR 42 east of U.S. HWY 441 on Friday, June 6, 2026, resulted in the second fatality on that stretch of road in less than a week.
According to a report by the Florida Highway Patrol, a 46-year-old Ocklawaha man was driving a pickup truck west on CR 42 to the east of SE 105th Ave. at around 1:45 p.m. when the truck veered into the eastbound lane for unknown reasons. The pickup struck an SUV headed in the opposite direction.
The driver of the SUV, a 51-year-old woman from Boynton Beach, was pronounced dead at the scene.
This is the second fatality to occur along that same stretch of CR 42 as the result of a vehicle collision. On Wednesday, June 3, a 30-year-old Leesburg man driving a sedan in the same direction, also just east of SE 105th Ave., died after entering the opposite lane and colliding with a pickup.
