MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Marion County Fire Rescue (MCFR) is celebrating the distinguished career of Lt. Kris Wuenstel, who retired on Jan. 30 after more than 26 years of dedicated service.
Wuenstel joined MCFR on Oct. 12, 1998, as a Firefighter/EMT before earning his Paramedic certification, making him a dual-certified Firefighter/Paramedic. His leadership and commitment led to his promotion to Lieutenant on Aug. 28, 2004.

Over the years, Wuenstel served at Liberty Station #32 before transitioning to Ray Lloyd Station #31, where he remained until his retirement. He was also a key member of the MCFR Special Operations HAZMAT Team, using his expertise to enhance emergency response efforts.
“Lt. Wuenstel’s dedication and leadership have made a lasting impact on MCFR and the community,” the department said in a statement. “We thank him for his service and wish him the best in his next chapter.”
MCFR officials, colleagues, and community members honored Wuenstel’s retirement with appreciation for his years of service.
