OCALA, FL (352today.com) – As of 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2025, the National Hurricane Center reports that a broad area of low pressure is moving west across the Florida Panhandle, between Tallahassee and Panama City. While the system’s thunderstorms remain disorganized – mainly south and southwest of the center – it could redevelop later today or tonight as it moves into the northeastern and north-central Gulf.

Forecasters say conditions over the Gulf appear favorable for possible development, and a tropical depression could still form before the system reaches the Louisiana coast on Thursday. The chance of development remains at 40% over the next two days and through the end of the week.

For Ocala and Marion County, the main concern remains heavy rainfall. Periods of downpours throughout today could lead to localized flash flooding, especially in areas prone to poor drainage or recent saturation.
