MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Portions of northeastern and northern Florida are under an Extreme Heat Warning, according to an announcement from the Alert Marion system.

The system, which pushes warnings from weather organizations such as the National Weather Service (Jacksonville), stated that portions of North Central Florida will be under an Extreme Heat Warning until 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2026.

“Heat index values 108 to 112. For the Extreme Heat Warning, dangerously hot conditions with heat index
values 110 to 115 expected,” read the announcement, in part. “Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events.”

Residents are warned to stay hydrated, avoid long periods of exposure or continuous hard work in the sun, and monitor themselves for symptoms of heat exhaustion or heatstroke, such as dizziness, disorientations, cold/clammy sweating, shaking or fainting.
