OCALA, FL (352today.com) – An 18-year-old Ocala man has been arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter and other charges stemming from a traffic collision that occurred in Ocala on April 19, 2026.
According to a report by the Florida Highway Patrol, De’Shawn Vonkei Williams was taken into custody on Wednesday, June 24, and charged with one count of vehicular homicide and six counts of reckless driving.
An investigation following the fatal April 19 collision in which the vehicle Williams was driving struck another vehicle after it entered the intersection of Pine and Hemlock roads, determined that Williams was traveling at around 90 miles per hour in a posted 30-mph zone. Authorities contend that Williams’s reckless operation of his vehicle led to the crash, in which the driver of the other car, a 48-year-old Ocala woman, died at the scene.
Williams was booked into the Marion County jail. Current records indicate he is no longer in custody.
