MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – UPDATE 1/21: Marion County officials announced Sunday that Marion County Utilities (MCU) has lifted the precautionary boil water notice.

ORIGINAL: Marion County Utilities (MCU) has issued a precautionary boil water notice for half a dozen communities.

MCU issued the advisory on Friday, Jan. 19, due to water main repairs.

It impacts the following communities:

  • Fort King Forest
  • Hi Cliff
  • Sleepy Hollow
  • Delcrest
  • Bluefields
  • Regency Estates

MCU had to shut the water off for about five hours in those communities.

Customers within the listed communities are advised to bring water intended for consumption to a rapid boil for at least one minute until this precautionary notice is lifted.

As an alternative, MCU says bottled water may be used for these purposes, which include drinking, cooking, and brushing teeth.

The utility says water used for laundry, bathing, and/or showering does not need to be boiled.

Utilities will perform water testing per regulations from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and will advise customers once this boil water notice is lifted.
