FLORAL CITY, FL (352today.com) – Firefighters responded to a mobile home engulfed in flames early Wednesday morning.
According to Citrus County Fire Rescue (CCFR), multiple firefighters from several stations were dispatched to a home around 4:45 a.m., including two rescue units and a Rehab Unit.
When they arrived, they found the home engulfed in flames.
Three people in the home were able to escape the fire prior to them arriving. CCFR says the homeowner tried to put the fire out using two different handheld extinguishers, but the fire grew too quickly. All three received medical evaluations. CCFR says one person had minor injuries, and they transported another to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
In approximately 30 minutes, they were about to bring the fire under control. According to CCFR, the home is a total loss. The flames also spread to a shed and threatened a recreational vehicle.
The Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.

CCFR encourages you to have a plan of action in case you are ever caught in one of these moments.
CCFR provided recommendations in a post on their Facebook page, “Make a home escape plan. Draw a map of your home showing all doors and windows. Discuss the plan with everyone in your home. Know at least two ways out of every room. Check your doors and windows to make sure they open easily.” They are also advise you to establish a meeting place that is a safe distance from our home.
“One-third of American households who made an estimate thought they would have at least 6 minutes before a fire in their home would become life-threatening. The time available is often less and only 8% said their first thought on hearing a smoke alarm would be to get out!” said CCFR.
