MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) has arrested a 40-year-old woman in connection with a deadly hit and run involving a bike and a scooter.
Troopers booked Mary Pate Wise into the Marion County jail early Sunday morning.
FHP says the accident happened on Spring Road on Saturday, March 2, just before 11 p.m.
Troopers say Wise was driving a pickup truck west on Spring Road on Saturday night when she hit a bicyclist and then hit a motorized scooter the bike was towing before leaving the scene.
Troopers say the crash killed the 84-year-old man riding in the scooter and seriously injured the 49-year-old man on the bicycle.

Authorities say the accident happened in a dark area with no street lighting.
Investigators say a security camera captured the crash and troopers used that to identify the pickup truck and Wise as the driver. They went to the address associated with Wise, which was in the same neighborhood as the accident, and found the truck. They say parts collected on the scene matched damage on the truck.
They arrested Wise and charged her with three counts of hit-and-run. She is being held without bond.
