SUMTER COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – UPDATE, 12:46 p.m.: The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) says the barricaded person has been taken into custody without incident.
SCSO says Webster Elementary has resumed normal operations.
ORIGINAL, 12:40 p.m.: The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) has issued a community alert.
The sheriff’s office says deputies are dealing with a person barricaded in Webster Apartments.
“Out of an abundance of caution, Webster Elementary School has gone into “Lock Out” status due to the incident at the Webster Apartments,” said the sheriff’s office in a Facebook post.
Deputies say this is a precautionary safety measure.
