ORANGE COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – UPDATE, 5:15 p.m.: The Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) says the search is over for a 3-year-old child who disappeared from an Orlando resort Thursday morning.
Around 4 p.m. OCSO posted on Facebook that the child who is autistic was found dead in a body of water at the resort.
While the search for the child is over, the search for answers of what happened and how is just beginning.
The department expressed condolences in a Facebook post and offered prayers for the family.
ORIGINAL, 2:49 p.m.: The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is currently on the lookout for a missing toddler.
FDLE says 3-year-old Rakim Akbari wandered away from a resort in the 8800 block of Palm Village Circle on Thursday morning.
The resort is near State Road 535 and World Center Drive in Orlando.
The initial alert came from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) who says they have all available resources looking for Tuda.
According to deputies, the child who also goes by the nickname Tuda was wearing white, green and red pajama pants and a maroon shirt.
OCSO says there is an “extreme concern” for the well-being of the 3-year-old who has autism. The alert encourages people to check water and waterways as people with autism often have a strong fascination with water.
