NORTH CENTRAL FLORIDA (352today.com) – AAA reports that gas prices have remained fairly stable despite an increase in the cost of crude oil.

The auto club states that Florida’s average gas price was $3.13 per gallon on Sunday. It went up by six cents at the start of the week but dropped back to $3.13 by the weekend.

“Crude oil and gasoline futures rose last week, cooling off the downward trend of prices at the pump,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “The price gains are being attributed to optimism that the Federal Reserve’s interest rate cut would boost the global economy and energy demand.”

Last week, AAA says that the U.S. crude oil price climbed over $3 (+5%), finishing at $71.92 per barrel on Friday. At the same time, gasoline futures increased by 11 cents per gallon on the NYMEX.
