GAINESVILLE, FL (352today.com) – The Florida Department of Health in Alachua County is encouraging residents to get vaccinated against the flu, offering both FluMist® and flu shots at various clinic locations. Paul Myers, the department’s administrator, says that vaccination is an important preventive measure in combating the flu season.
In addition to receiving the vaccine, individuals are asked to stay home when feeling ill, practice proper cough etiquette, and wash hands frequently to reduce the spread of infection.
Vaccine Availability:
- FluMist® is available at school clinics.
- Both FluMist® and flu shots are available at all health department locations.

- Children aged 6 months to 18 years who are uninsured, underinsured, or have Medicaid can receive the vaccine for free.
