OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Ocala Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred early Friday morning at HCA Hospital located at 1431 SE 1st Ave.
According to a press release from the Ocala Police Department (OPD), at approximately 2:51 a.m., an OPD detail officer requested assistance from a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Trooper who was involved in a physical altercation with a suspect in custody.
The release states that the FHP Trooper used deadly force during the altercation, resulting in the death of one person.
No law enforcement officers or hospital staff were injured in the incident.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) has been requested by FHP to investigate the officer-involved shooting.
