OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Marion County officials are warning residents about fraudulent emails posing as communications from county offices related to inspections, permitting, planning, and zoning.

The emails, which appear to come from county government personnel, are requesting confidential or financial information from recipients.

Marion County government assures the community that such emails are not legitimate. Anyone who receives these suspicious messages should immediately mark them as spam and delete them, without clicking on any links or attachments.

“Marion County will never request confidential or financial information, nor will we threaten penalties or fines through email,” a spokesperson said.
