MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Yet again, a furry companion at the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) shows his dedication in the name of justice.
Bodycam footage from an Ocklawaha arrest shows K-9 Corporal Christmas and his four-legged compatriot, K-9 King, tracking down a man wanted for violating his probation on battery charges.
Deputies established a search warrant for 50-year-old Denny Burns’ arrest and served the warrant on Jan. 29 at the residence located at 8155 SE 170th Ave. Rd.
As deputies stationed themselves at the house’s front door, MCSO says that K-9 Corporal Christmas saw Burns trying to sneak into the shed in the backyard.
Christmas and his companion, K-9 King, headed toward the shed to investigate.
The video begins as soon as they arrive at the shed. “Sheriff’s Office… Burns, I just saw you; you’re gonna get dog bit,” said Christmas.
The two entered the shed, and K-9 King began trying to sniff Burns’ scent. After realizing Burns had fled, he scampered through the cabin’s back door, pulling Christmas with him as the leash buckled.
King pulled Christmas towards the back side of a shed. He began to pick up on a scent as he turned the corner.
The video then shows King lashing out to bite something. Lo and behold, it was Burns’ leg.
As Burns began writhing in pain from the dog bite, Christmas pointed his gun at him and instructed him to turn onto his belly.
Once he did, Christmas handcuffed him, signaling the end of the hunt.
Burns informed deputies that he had marijuana in his possession. Deputies performed a search, uncovering a felonious 52 grams of the drug.
Deputies say Burns was also in possession of drug paraphernalia.
After being medically cleared, Burns was transported to the Marion County Jail, charged with Felony Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Resisting an Officer, and Probation Violation.
He is held without bond.
