OCALA, FL (352today.com) – The City of Ocala’s Community Development Services Department, in partnership with D & S Development, hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to welcome Crystal Canfall and her family into their new home. This marks the first completed home under the Affordable Housing Initiative established by the City Council in 2023.

The initiative aims to address the community’s affordable housing needs by utilizing available surplus land within the city limits. D & S Development, a local builder, was awarded the property through an Invitation to Negotiate issued by the City for affordable housing development.

City officials emphasized the importance of projects like this, which not only provide families with stable housing but also contribute to a stronger, more connected community.

“We hope that the Canfall family enjoys their new home while making a lifetime of new memories,” the City shared on its Facebook page.
