MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – The Southeastern Youth Fair (SEYF), a beloved Marion County tradition, officially kicked off Feb. 18, celebrating its 85th anniversary with the theme “Footloose at the Fair.” Running through March 1 at the Southeastern Livestock Pavilion, 2232 NE Jacksonville Rd., the event showcases the dedication and talents of local 4-H and Future Farmers of America (FFA) youth.
Since its inception in 1978 as an extension of the Southeastern Youth Steer Show and Sale, the SEYF has grown into a premier platform for young competitors in agriculture, home arts, and skill-based contests. With a mission to foster personal growth, self-esteem, and a deeper appreciation for agriculture, the fair remains a cornerstone of youth development in the community.
“The Southeastern Youth Fair continues to grow each year,” said Crystal McCazzio, Marion County UF/IFAS extension agent III. “We are proud to celebrate 85 years of youth development opportunities in Marion County. This significant milestone is a testament to the incredible contributions of our local youth and the ongoing support from our community.”

Fairgoers can enjoy an array of events, including market animal showcases featuring steer, swine, lamb, and goat exhibitions, along with livestock shows for beef heifers, chickens, dairy goats, dogs, horses, meat goats, and rabbits.
Home arts displays will highlight kitchen creations, photography, sewing, and horticulture exhibits. Additional competitions, such as the Dave Baillie BBQ Contest, speech contests, tractor driving, and the “Watch Me Grow” program, offer even more chances for youth to demonstrate their skills.
