OCALA, FL (352today.com) – The Ocala City Council honored Captain Charlie Eades on Tuesday night for an incredible 30 years of service with the Ocala Police Department (OPD).
Capt. Eades began his law enforcement career in 1995, dedicating himself to a wide range of roles, including Patrol Officer, D.A.R.E. Officer, School Resource Officer, and Major Crimes Detective. His leadership skills led to a promotion to Sergeant in 2007, where he took on responsibilities in Patrol, Crisis Negotiations, Economic Crimes, and Intelligence.
By 2016, Capt. Eades had risen to Lieutenant, overseeing Technical Services and serving as Watch Commander. In 2018, he became Captain, leading key divisions such as the East Side District, Professional Standards, and Criminal Investigations. Today, he serves as Director of Training in Resource Development, continuing to shape the next generation of officers.

Beyond his police work, Capt. Eades is actively involved in the community. He chairs the Ocala/Newbridge Twinning Committee and is preparing for his 10th trip to Ireland for Saint Patrick’s Day. He also serves as President of the Marion County Public Safety Assistance Trust Program, a charity supporting First Responders in need.
A lifelong learner, Capt. Eades holds a Doctorate in Criminal Justice from Saint Leo University, along with degrees from UCF and the College of Central Florida. His dedication to education fuels his passion for improving systems and mentoring others.
