DAYTONA BEACH, FL (352today.com) — The College of Central Florida (CF) Patriots boosted their playoff hopes Saturday with a dominant road sweep over Daytona State College, winning 8-1 and 15-8. The back-to-back victories move CF into sole possession of third place in the Citrus Conference with just one series left in regular-season play.
Sophomore slugger Cooper Jones powered the offense, finishing the day with four hits, seven RBI, and a pair of home runs – his seventh and eighth of the season.
In game one, starting pitcher Brayden Toro (4-2) tossed six strong innings, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out eight. Cory Geinzer closed it out with three strikeouts in the final inning. Jones drove in four runs, while Victor Martinez, Gio Mendoza, and Miles Curley each chipped in with an RBI.

Game two saw the Patriots jump out to a 10-2 lead, but the Falcons clawed back within three runs before CF put the game away with a four-run ninth. Key contributors included Dawson Harman (3 hits, RBI), Anthony Diaz (2 hits, RBI, stolen base), and Bruno Schafer (3 hits, double, RBI). Martinez added a two-run double, and Jones crushed his second homer of the day. Karson Lindsey (2-0) picked up the win, striking out nine over 5.1 innings.
With the sweep, CF improves to 33-14 overall and 18-12 in conference play. The Patriots wrap up the regular season with a crucial three-game series against first-place Indian River State College.
