Troopers say SUV pulled into the path of the motorcycle at SE Sunset Harbor Road and CR 25.
WEIRSDALE, FL (352today.com) – A 74-year-old motorcyclist from New Port Richey died Saturday afternoon following a crash at the intersection of SE Sunset Harbor Road and County Road 25 in southeast Marion County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said an 80-year-old woman from Weirsdale was driving an SUV eastbound on Sunset Harbor Road and stopped at the intersection’s stop sign. As she attempted to continue straight across CR 25, her SUV collided with the motorcycle traveling southbound.
Officials said the motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital, where he later died. The SUV driver sustained minor injuries and did not require hospitalization.
The crash remains under investigation.
