OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Marion County moms, especially those keeping close tabs on what’s happening in their children’s schools, have a new name to learn: Dr. Danielle Brewer. On April 29, 2025, the Marion County School Board voted unanimously to approve Brewer as interim superintendent of Marion County Public Schools.
The board had previously reached consensus during an April 17 work session to bring Brewer into the role, but Tuesday’s vote made it official. Brewer signed a superintendent employment agreement shortly after the meeting.

The move marks the beginning of a leadership transition. Outgoing Superintendent Dr. Diane Gullett will continue managing school operations through July 11, 2025. Until then, Brewer will shadow Gullett and prepare for the full responsibilities of the role.
Beginning July 11, Dr. Brewer will officially assume full authority as interim superintendent, as outlined in the Florida Constitution. Her base salary will be $169,333, plus benefits specified in the interim superintendent’s contract.
