OCALA, FL (352today.com) — New details have been released in Thursday’s bank robbery and police pursuit that ended with an officer-involved shooting near SE Maricamp Road.
According to the Ocala Police Department, an adult white male entered the TD Bank on SE 17th Street armed and demanded money. After receiving an unknown amount of cash, the suspect fled in a black pickup truck.
Officers quickly located the vehicle, which started a pursuit through Ocala that ended when the truck crashed near the 4400 block of SE Maricamp Road, just east of the Southern Pig and Cattle restaurant.
Police now confirm that three suspects were involved in the robbery and subsequent chase. During the incident, one of the suspects sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the wrist. He is expected to recover fully.
All three suspects are now in custody. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is continuing to investigate the officer-involved shooting.
This remains an active investigation. More details will be shared as they become available.

The Ocala Police Department (OPD) says that it started with a robbery at the TD Bank on SE 17th Street. As officers responded, the suspects took off, prompting a pursuit. The chase ended near the 4400 block of SE Maricamp Road, next to the Southern Pig and Cattle restaurant, when the suspects’ vehicle rolled into a retention pond.
Police say multiple suspects were taken into custody at the scene. During the incident, shots were fired, resulting in an officer-involved shooting. No officers were injured.
“This is an active investigation, and we will share more details when it’s available,” OPD officials said in a Facebook post.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is now investigating the officer-involved shooting, which is standard protocol in these situations.
As police worked the scene Thursday, a large law enforcement presence could be seen blocking off roads and surrounding the area. Officers were seen near the overturned vehicle along the tree line, just yards away from the main road.
Drivers were urged to avoid the area while investigators continued their work.
