OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Summer will be here before you know it, and families across Florida are getting ready to pack their bags.
According to a new survey by AAA – The Auto Club Group, 60% of Floridians plan to take a trip this summer, up from 56% last year.
“Despite economic uncertainties, Americans still prioritize vacations as an essential part of life,” says Debbie Haas, Vice President of Travel for AAA.
Where They’re Going
AAA reports the most popular summer vacations among Florida residents include:
- 43% heading to beach destinations
- 36% visiting cities or metro areas
- 27% making a trip to theme parks
- 21% booking resort vacations
- 16% cruising the ocean
Why Plan Ahead?
- June (45%) and July (40%) are peak travel months.
- But only 40% of Floridians typically finalize plans by April.
- Waiting could mean missing out on the best deals.
“Booking early ensures travelers get the ideal combination of price, availability, and choice,” Haas explained.
Domestic, International Travel & Insurance
Most travelers (64%) are staying in the U.S., but some are going abroad:
- 15% to Europe
- 12% to the Caribbean
Still, only one-third plan to buy travel insurance.
“Travel insurance protects you, your wallet, and your vacation plans,” said Haas. “We recommend working with a Travel Advisor.”
