OCALA, FL (352today.com) – While Florida isn’t the best place to view Saturday’s annular eclipse, the weather should be good for observing the partial eclipse.
NASA says in an annular solar eclipse, the moon covers most of the sun leaving what they describe as a “ring of fire” around the edges. In north-central Florida, NASA estimates 55% of the sun will be covered.
Eclipse Watching on Saturday
Cuscowilla Nature and Retreat Center in Micanopy is catering to eclipse watchers with events and activities on Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. and skies will be clear for the center’s stargazing event later that night.
If you’re opting to view the solar event at home, just remember it’s not safe to look directly at the sun. Here’s how to safely view the eclipse.
Enjoy Arts & Crafts at the McIntosh 1890s Festival
Hundreds of vendors won’t mind if you take a break from browsing their wares to view the eclipse during the 1890s Festival in McIntosh. In addition to arts & crafts, you’ll encounter plenty of food, music and more with a trip to the Victorian-era community located just off Interstate 75, south of Gainesville and north of Ocala in Marion County.
The forecast for Saturday looks great for these events and others you can find on our events page.
