OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Over the weekend, more than 600 people pounded the pavement to show their support of loved ones battling Alzheimer’s disease.
The 2023 Walk to End Alzheimer’s which raises money to find a cure for the memory loss disease was held at the World Equestrian Center (WEC) on Saturday, Oct. 14. The weather was ideal for the nearly two-mile walk on the WEC grounds.
This year, 85 teams participated and raised $125,433. The fundraising goal was $110,000.
The top fundraising team raising was Sun Country Trail Blazers (SCTB). The nonprofit sponsors an annual horseback Ride for the Cure to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association. This year, SCTB donated $15,169.
If there was an award for “most festive,” it would surely have gone to the Ocala Parrothead Club. They donned playful costumes and promised to Congo line their way around the course and show Ocala how to “party with a purpose.” They raised more than $1,800 for this year’s walk.

Mr. Bob from “The Mr. Bob Morning Show” on K-Country was the emcee for this year’s walk.
