MCINTOSH, FL (352today.com) – A post made to the Facebook group Friends of McIntosh on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026, hints that the cherished McIntosh 1890s Festival–shepherded by the group for more than 50 years and discontinued in an announcement on Jan. 13–may be revived under new stewardship.

“A group of enthusiastic are volunteers met on January 19 to restructure and revive the festival under new leadership,” reads the post. “On January 20 the McIntosh Town Council approved a resolution offering encouragement and space for such a project.

“The Friends of McIntosh, while not involved, wish them well.”

In the post announcing the festival’s discontinuation, the Friends of McIntosh cited increased costs, declining attendance and changing demographics within its own membership as reasons for the cancelation.

“The Friends of McIntosh will continue to support community events, the food bank, warm clothing, shoes and holiday gifts for children in need, scholarships and maintenance of historic buildings,” read both announcements.

352Today will continue to follow these new developments.
