GAINESVILLE, FL (352today.com) – Your plans for 2027 just got a little hotter and a whole lot cuter. The Humane Society of North Central Florida (HSNCF) and Gainesville Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 2157 have teamed up for the 2027 Rescued Hearts Calendar, pairing local firefighters with rescued dogs and cats for a lifesaving cause.

With a little spice and plenty of sweet faces, this fundraiser celebrates the firefighters who serve our community and the animals who capture our hearts. Proceeds benefit animals in HSNCF’s care, helping provide medical treatment, shelter, and second chances.

Now in its second year of creating a calendar with local firefighters, HSNCF has learned that working with four-legged models means plenty of personality, a little chaos, and lots of laughter. Getting everyone to look at the camera at the same time? That’s a rescue mission of its own.

“This project is fun—and yes, a little spicy—but what I’m most proud of is that it’s real,” said Franziska Raeber, Director of Development at HSNCF. “Real firefighters, real rescued dogs and cats, and all the personality and unpredictability that come with them. No AI-generated models or animals, just our community coming together to help save lives.”

Behind the playful photos is a serious purpose. Every calendar purchased helps HSNCF care for animals who need a safe place to land and a chance at a loving home.

“Whether you’re here for the firefighters, the animals, or a little of both, every purchase helps us save more lives,” Raeber added. “That’s something to feel good about all year long.”

The project is made possible through generous sponsors, including the title sponsor, Gainesville GEICO Team. Their support helps cover production costs so more proceeds can benefit animals.

HSNCF extends special thanks to Gainesville Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 2157 for making this collaboration possible, and to the participating firefighters for bringing their time, good humor, and willingness to share the spotlight, even when their furry costars stole the show.

Calendars can be purchased in the Humane Society of North Central Florida’s lobby, wellness clinic, and thrift store, or ordered online at humanesocietyncfl.givecloud.co/rescued-hearts-calendar.
