MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – As nearly all the ballots are in, it looks like three of the five measures on the Marion County ballot will pass.
Amendment 3, the “bigger homestead exemption” amendment, topped the 60-percent threshold all proposed amendments to the state constitution must exceed in order to pass.
In addition, both the “local” measures on the ballot, for maintaining an ad valorem tax to help pay for public education and for issuing bonds to raise money for parks, trails, and conservation, passed.
At press time, neither of the two other proposed constitutional amendments, regarding increasing the state’s budget stabilization fund and adding a tax exemption for tangible farm and agricultural tools, has reached the 60 percent approval needed to pass.
